resort & casino

while everything is on pause right now, you may be thinking about your next escape and adventure. The good news is there are many exciting developments to look forward to within California. The Wilton Rancheria Resort and Casino is one of them, and although the opening has been pushed further back to late 2021 for now, there have already been discussions about what’s underway.

“It will also pave the way for many job opportunities among locals: 1,750 full-time employee positions, 3,000 indirect and direct jobs, and another 1,600 for construction.”

A LANDMARK ACHIEVEMENT

Wilton Rancheria is currently the sole Native American tribe in Sacramento County. Tribe Chairman Raymond “Chuckie” Hitchcock was happy to announce that the federal government has agreed to take 36-acres of land of Elk Grove into trust. This means that the tribe was allowed to begin developments on the $500 million casino and resort. The tribe now considers this a landmark achievement after decades of being without land. It will also pave the way for many job opportunities among locals: 1,750 full-time employee positions, 3,000 indirect and direct jobs, and another 1,600 for construction. These numbers may multiply as well, and will grant employees several benefits and opportunities.

“The convention center may actually be the largest one outside of downtown Sacramento.”

A HOST OF AMENITIES

The new Elk Grove location is situated on the major freeway State Route 99 on an abandoned mall site, which is within the populous Central Valley. The property is said to include a 12-story hotel with 302 guest rooms. There will be a luxury pool, spa, and fitness center. A reported 2.3 percent of the site will be dedicated to the casino floor (110,260 sq-ft). This whopping site will be attractive to game enthusiasts. As online gaming has picked up right now, brick and mortar casinos, especially new ones, need to compete hard with these platforms. The online table games on Foxy Bingo show how tough the competition is, as they have a diverse mix of live casino classics such as blackjack and roulette as well as modern iterations of every type of casino game. Developers now are challenged to up their game, quite literally, in terms of designing and planning the casino area. From what we know so far, there will be 2,000 slot machines and 84 table games, which like online platforms will aim to appeal to as many different types of gamers as possible. We can expect to hear more details closer to its opening.

A FULL-FLEDGED

ENTERTAINMENT SPACE

Aside from the usual hotel and casino offerings, there will be up to 30,000 square feet of events’ space, complete with conference centers, ballrooms, and entertainment venues that will draw customers away from their screens and into the casino. The convention center may actually be the largest one outside of downtown Sacramento. Howard Hughes Corp. owns the rest of the site, and this is where they plan to build a complementary shopping center called The Outlet Collection at Elk Grove, which will be south of the resort and casino. Major retailers such as Nike and Columbia are rumored to have expressed their interest in joining the lineup. This entire area may soon be a full-fledged entertainment space, catering to everyone’s varying preferences.

As we wait for the project’s completion, we can definitely foresee big things up ahead – both for visitors and locals alike.
