FORWARD

On your perfect road to optimal fitness, there is probably no greater barrier than pain. Nobody wants to suffer while trying to stay motivated and push farther. At our Fleet Feet stores, our staff and I are passionate and committed to powering the health of our communities. Through continuous training of our staff who provide epic service, superior knowledge, and an unmatched fit id experience, we prove that our customers are our highest priority. We do not want your efforts derailed, and we have a method to keep you on-track. Our unique outfitting process focuses on providing you with running shoes that fit and support properly, gear that improves your experience, and knowledge to help you move your best — whether you are embarking on a ten minute walk or a three hour marathon.

“Our unique outfitting process focuses on providing you with running shoes that fit and support properly, gear that improves your experience, and knowledge to help you move your best — whether you are embarking on a ten minute walk or a three hour marathon.”

During “The Fleet Feet Outfitting Process,” we go in-depth to discover more about your needs: First, we listen - tell us about yourself. Are you running currently or walking? What are your goals, your struggles, and your limitations? There’s no such thing as too much information here and the more we can discover, the better we can help! Second, we watch - we use 3D scanning technology as part of the fit id experience to take precise measurements of your feet. The state-of-the-art scanner captures 12 data points; like length, width, and arch height, to give you personalized shoe and insole recommendations. Outfitters then diagnose your stance, stride and step to fine-tune the solution. Once we assess the biomechanics of your foot, we’ll mine through our extensive product selection to come up with the best shoes and gear for you. Third, we act- here’s where the rubber hits the road. Whether you try on two pairs of shoes or eight, we will work with you to find the right match. From getting them on to lacing them up the right way, we’ll be there through the whole process. We can also talk socks, insoles, gear or apparel — anything we think might benefit you. Finally, we plan - you’re geared up and ready to go, so what’s next? Time to look ahead. Training programs, tips, injury prevention and recovery — we want to discuss and plan with you because the end of the outfitting process is only the beginning of your journey.

“ I have discovered that putting one foot in front of the other is an easy and simple choice that can be started the second you commit. Being able to share that passion with the community and helping others achieve their fitness goals is amazing and life changing.”

What is the importance of the right shoe? Well, it’s just as important as the left shoe…all kidding aside, a properly fitted shoe allows one to thoroughly enjoy running, walking, and a healthy, active lifestyle. Fitted shoes are more comfortable and through them, we can achieve better access to the biomechanics of the foot. Everyone’s feet are different. What works for someone else might not work for you. We’re able to choose from many types of footwear to determine which are the best choices for you, in fit and function. In the end, band-aids, wraps, and cushions should not be necessary work out accessories. We are here to eliminate that possibility.

I was prompted to join the Fleet Feet team simply because I’m extremely passionate about fitness. As a child I was defined as obese. My family worked in the food distribution industry and owned a scratch bakery. It was easy to make bad food choices. Although I was active in sports, I had a doctor tell me at age 16 that I was going to be diabetic, like the rest of my family. That was my wake-up call moment. I started eating healthy and realized that good foods taste good. I dedicated myself to changing during my senior year of high school, dropped 40 lbs., and the rest is history. My healthy-living, active lifestyle journey began, and I haven’t looked back. Since then, I’ve been a participant in rugby for 16 years, marathon running, triathlons and ultra-running. Sure, there are the occasional setbacks, we’re all human. We have lives, family commitments, career choices, and time management issues. I have discovered that putting one foot in front of the other is an easy and simple choice that can be started the second you commit. Being able to share that passion with the community and helping others achieve their fitness goals is amazing and life changing. One of the mottos we strive to demonstrate to all our clientele is, “we’ll be your biggest cheerleaders.” We are on that path with them, getting them through their challenges, and finding solutions. We have owned two other locations — Stockton for 14 years and Modesto for going on 4 years. Brentwood and East Contra Costa County residents are an active, outdoors motivated community that really need our level of commitment for their active lifestyles. It was logical for us to come share our passion and expertise with the community.

Since our plan to open in Brentwood, which started three years ago, we’ve been supporters of the Delta Harvest Run which is hosted by the Delta Area Realtors and provides scholarships for students in East Contra Costa along with the Brentwood Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day. We’re reaching out more as we make connections in the community, in hopes to continue to serve, whether it’s events, races, or groups. We live by a set of core values: put people first, do the right thing, it’s a privilege to serve, lead, and influence in all we do. We seek to engage and empower our community. We believe in working, sweating, and living passionately, being present in every moment, and running or working out together.
