THE HOTEL THAT HAS IT ALL.  THE FOUR SEASONS HOTEL, St. Fillans, in the Scottish Highlands, offers comfortable bedrooms and hillside chalets along with stylish restaurants serving contemporary Scottish food. Enjoy the stunning views over Loch Earn and the hills beyond. Current owner, Susan Stuart, has run the hotel for the last 18 months, and comes from a wealth of experience within the hotel and hospitality industry.

A picturesque, hidden gem, on the banks of Loch Earn, a sense of awe is the initial reaction when reaching this lovely hotel. Within easy reach from Glasgow and Edinburgh, if it’s a relaxed getaway you are after then this is an ideal place. Rustic, traditional rooms overlooking the loch add to the tranquillity of the place; or if you prefer a chalet then these are also available and situated to take in the magnificent view.

The Four Seasons does not disappoint when it comes to the quality of their culinary offerings either. !e food is delicious and it would be impossible to walk away from the table feeling anything but satisfied. The hotel also has a good selection of wines, with everything from the reasonably priced to something for the connoisseur. The breakfast is outstanding also, and both the cooked breakfast and porridge are highly recommended.

There is definitely character within this hotel, and this doesn’t just extend to the bricks and mortar. One of the waiters, Jeffrey Rathbone from South Africa just happens to be a distant relative of the famous actor Basil Rathbone – although that isn’t the most interesting part of his story! Social media allowed Jeffrey to reconnect with his childhood sweetheart, Michelle, and he gave up his job as a teacher in South Africa and came over to Scotland to be with her. !ey are now happily married and live close to the hotel.

Another one of the wait staff with a story to tell is Lisa from Stirling, Scotland. She came to St. Fillans eight months ago to begin a new job in the hotel and just totally fell in love with the place. She hasn’t been home to visit since!

Finally, the hotel is famous for having had a certain group from Liverpool visit in the 1960s. In 1964, the Beatles stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel, and fans can follow in the footsteps of John, Paul, George and Ringo by booking a stay in the hotel, or one of the chalets on the banks of Loch Earn. If it was good enough for the Beatles...

The Four Seasons is a pet-friendly hotel. Dog owners are allowed to bring their pets into the restaurant bar and there is also a special breakfast dining area for guests with pets. If you can imagine the superb walks that are in the area, the hotel is a haven for pet owners who don’t want to leave their dog or cat at home. !e hotel even offers pet services to ensure all canines and fluffy friends are well cared for, with prices starting at just around $2 per hour. Services include:

  • Specially selected canine mini (available for both cats and dogs).
  • Dog walking service with an experienced dog walker who will take your dog across some of the many Munros and walking trails near the hotel, allowing him to explore the crisp Perthshire countryside.
  • Pet Sitting service to ensure your fur-baby is well taken care of.

There are certain occasions that call for the whole property to be placed at your disposal, and hotel owner Susan Stuart is more than happy to talk to you about your exclusive use of The Four Seasons.

Whether it’s a wedding, a special birthday or any other celebration where you want to be surrounded by your own friends, or even for corporate retreats: the Four Seasons Hotel offers both the space you need to meet all together and also to break out into smaller sub-groups.

In each of these cases, the staff will talk to you about your specific requirements and will tailor the arrangements for accommodation, food, drinks and any additional services to suit your needs. !ey can also make private rooms available on a non-exclusive basis which means there may be other guests in the hotel, but you still have a private entrance, premier view of the loch and a dedicated team of staff to look after you.

So there you have it – the Four Seasons Hotel in St. Fillans really does have it all.

Whether you’re looking for a wedding venue, a pet sitting service or a base to explore Loch Earn; whether you’re a food and wine connoisseur, a Beatles fan, or even if you’re just looking for a relaxing getaway, it’s challenging to find a hotel with more character than the Four Seasons.
