East Bay Photo Contest
Calling all local photographers! 110° will be showcasing the best in local photography once per month. If you would like to showcase your photos in our publication, feel free to submit your work. You do not have to be a professional photographer to be chosen; we encourage both professionals and amateurs to submit their photos. We are looking for photos that capture the beauty and essence of our East Contra Costa County region. They can include places, people, or local events. There is no cost to submit; however, a photo release will be required. The photos showcased this month are compliments of Jeanine L. Shipilov.

Jeanine L. Shipilov Photography
I have had a passion for photography since I was a child. I was 12 years old when my grandmother gave me a hand-me-down Canon AE-1 which was my very first camera. This camera gave me my first full experience with photography all the way through the development process. I loved taking candid photographs of family and friends in my small hometown of Fort Bragg, California along the Mendocino Coast and sharing these photos with anyone who was willing to look.

When I was 17 years old, I had the opportunity to expand my photography adventures and photograph the world when I traveled to Australia and New Zealand as part of a joint high school trip. The combination of photography and world travel really sparked a passion for me that I have carried with me to this day, and I am eternally grateful for these opportunities which life has blessed me with. Once I knew that photography would be a great passion for me, I expanded my travels and have had opportunities to photograph several parts of Europe, Africa, and my very favorite travel destination, Hawaii.
I’ve worn many hats throughout my adulthood, including working as an EMT, volunteer firefighter, emergency room technician, and phlebotomist. However, seeing the world through a camera lens and being able to share those experiences with friends and family drove me to pursue my dream of becoming a professional photographer. In 2021, I took that leap and started my own business, JLS Photography.

As a world traveler, adventurer, photographer, mother, and wife, I strive to portray the honesty, sincerity, and intimacy that lives in us all through my photographs and share them with the world. I am truly honored to be selected by 110° Magazine for this feature and look forward to sharing my future photography experiences with our East Bay community.
