Spa Blú is taking the East County spa industry to the next level by implementing a European level of skin care. Spa Blú goes beyond beautification, incorporating such things as scrubs with Dead Sea Salts, which brings about a complete remineralization of the skin. Or Moor Mud Wraps to revitalize, detoxify, and remineralize the entire body. Spa Blú has the only Vichy shower in the East County, providing hot hydrotherapy through seven heads of hot water, giving the sensation of being in a warm torrential downpour. Jody is one of the three members of the Spa Blú receptionist team. First impressions are important and the three women work hard to make a great impression on people walking into the spa. Jody plans to go back to school and become a spa professional herself some day. In the meantime, she’s serving out smiles and friendly greetings to spa clients and visitors. She’s helping to provide reservation and schedule management services, freeing the spa professionals to give clients their undivided attention, which is the level of service that distinguishes the spa from salons.

Lorraine provides the international flavor for Spa Blú. She was born and trained in Johannesburg, South Africa, where the rigorous training program for Estheticians includes classes in Swedish massage, body alignment, plus classes in anatomy and physiology. Lorraine got an international degree because of her desire to travel. She worked for several years as an Esthetician on Celebrity Cruises, where she says she learned to interact with people from all over the world. She enjoys giving facials, and as Spa Director, says she is managing a happy team which helps make Spa Blú a pleasant place for clients.

Christian is a massage therapist with more than five years experience. He has a positive attitude towards his clients, his work, and his profession. His training and experience enable him to assist clients in healing processes, promoting relaxation, and reducing stress. Christian has more than a thousand hours of massage training. He studied at Silicon Valley College in both Eastern and Western modalities, including Swedish, deep tissue, shiatsu, acupressure, sport massage, reflexology, and on-site chair massage. He holds Swedish Massage Certification and Asian System Certification from the prestigious McKinnon Institute.

Desirée shifted to the spa industry from a graphic design profession in part because she wanted to help people better their appearance and self-esteem through skin-care services. Desirée targeted Spa Blú because of the quality of its facilities, services, and staff. She appreciates the spa’s extensive variety of techniques, ingredients, chemicals, peels, etc. She can always make an appropriate match between the spa’s list of products and services and a client’s needs and goals. Clients also find her services very relaxing. Desirée says that she’s excited by the service she is performing. She likes to come to work!

Melissa takes pleasure in pampering people and making them feel better. She says that while giving someone a facial and relieving them of their stress, her own stress levels go down, as well. She enjoys the fact that people seem to let their guard down and they especially appreciate life during the somewhat intimate experience of receiving a facial. Melissa decided she wanted to join the Spa Blú team the day the facility opened and feels honored to be part of Spa Blú’s uniquely classy and loving environment.

Robin Heinrich, Massage Therapist

A blind therapist instructed Robin in massage and as a result she is able to close her eyes during a session and get into a problem area by sensing the positions of muscles, bones, and tendons. Robin previously spent 15 years doing physical therapy for Workman’s Comp patients. She holds a degree as a Personal Trainer from Cal State Hayward and can coach clients in stretching, proper range of motion, and therapeutic exercises. She can instruct them in how to avoid injuries or keep an injury from becoming aggravated. She has an extensive knowledge of cardio and body mechanics.
