International business in 2008. Floor Coverings International is a franchise company; our territory covers all of Contra Costa and Alameda Counties. The company has more than 25 years experience and has created a proven system to provide customers with great home improvement experiences.
Our customers can choose products from any materials they might wish including carpet, hardwood, ceramic tile, vinyl, and a number of specialty products ranging from bamboo to slate, plus accents such as glass. We use materials from the finest manufacturers. We take between one to five days to install a new floor, depending on the size of the job and type of floor we are installing. Installing such products as carpets is obviously much less time-consuming than tile and hardwood.
Our 4,000 square-foot permanent showroom at 1000 Detroit Avenue Suite F in Concord enables potential customers to see samples of all our floor covering materials, but we discriminate ourselves from competitors because we specialize in in-home sales and design. In fact, Floor Coverings International is the country’s leading in-home design floor coverings brand. A large van is a mobile showroom with samples and swatches that we bring right into a customer’s home. Even better than that, however, is our visualizing software that permits us to take a picture of a customer’s floor and upload the picture into an application that will then display the floor’s appearance, with whatever floor covering choices the customer is interested in comparing. This is a wonderful service because, before we do any work at all, a customer can view images of what their own particular floors will look like when work is completed.
Before starting up our Floor Coverings International business, my brothers and I brought extensive previous experience in the Home Improvement industry — my brothers in laying floors and I in sales and design. We saw an opportunity to combine forces and to go into business for ourselves. In spite of our previous experience, before we laid our first floor, the Floor Coverings corporate headquarters provided us with three weeks of intensive training ensuring that we understood all parts of the business. The company continues to provide ongoing training, helping us to ensure that customer service and client satisfaction remain at the highest levels.
Our goal is not simply to ensure that customers are happy with our work, we seek to motivate them into becoming “raving fans” of our business — people who are delighted to refer our work to others. We do this through a system that we call Three Wows. The first Wow occurs right at the beginning of the design process, when they get visuals showing the transformation that we intend to provide. The second Wow happens when the job is finished and they are able to catch their first glimpse of their new floors. The third Wow is when friends and family members come by to see the finished product. The Three Wows system ensures that we get repeat business and especially guarantees the referrals that have become the main part of our marketing. Those “raving fans” become our most effective advertisers.
Last year my brothers and I took home the coveted Floor Coverings Franchise of the Year Award, beating out 102 other stores for the honor. The award was based on overall client satisfaction and sales volume, but also included our involvement in helping other franchise owners succeed by conducting Q & A’s and donating whatever hands-on training to other people in the business that we are able to provide. Angie’s List acknowledged our excellence by giving us a Super Service Award for 2013, which is their most prestigious award because it is based upon the number of consecutive A-ratings we were able to get during the year.
Business is booming! We deserve to succeed because customer satisfaction is the only gauge we use to measure success.
