Mission Statement

110° Magazine is a publication that personalizes our community by focusing upon the people, places, and businesses of Contra Costa. The magazine's content strengthens awareness, trust, and appreciation of the community amongst its residents. It spotlights the people who make the community vibrant, and the businesses that sustain our vital community. With its unique profiles, 110° Magazine fosters exemplary living for the residents of Contra Costa.

Publisher: Tricia Piquero

Tricia fell in love with 110° Magazine long before an opportunity opened up for her to assume the role of publisher. She brings to the task of managing the success of the magazine her enthusiasm and business sense, coupled with her love for sales and her marketing experience. She has a fire in her heart for driving the magazine forward by meeting the needs of clients. She feels driven by sharing her love for the magazine with others. Her background as entrepreneur prepared her to meet the challenges of the business.

Editor in Chief: Don Huntington

Don is Editor In Chief of 110° - Contra Costa County Living Magazine and Editorial Director of 65° - Peninsula Living Magazine. Don worked as an information developer in California's Silicon Valley for nearly twenty years. He has operated his own typesetting and consulting business, plus working as an information specialist in hi-tech companies, including, most recently, Lucent Technologies. Don has written articles of general interest for a number of publications, including the Antioch Press. He has been passionately involved in implementing many aspects of information technology. Don is a resident of Antioch and an outspoken advocate for East County living.

Creative Director: Art Vandelay

Art, has more than 17 years of expertise in publishing and design. U.S. career includes time spent at CMP-United Business Media, where he served and received 13 awards as Art Director for Web Techniques. In Spring of 2002 he facilitated in launching New Architect Magazine, a San Francisco-based technology magazine which won the NY Ozzie Award in October of 2002 for best overall design. An Austrian native, he has worked for monthly, weekly and daily magazines such as Format Magazine and News Magazine, two of Austria's biggest media groups and affiliates of the German Bertelsmann Group. Recently he spoke at the Folios Publishing Summit in Chicago on start-up magazines and entrepreneur ship.

Associate Editor: Andrea Stuart

Andrea became enraptured by the written word before she reached the age of three. Fascinated by the daedal practice of interlacing words, and captivated by the artistic spirit that flows from the fingertips, through the pen and onto the pages, Andrea's passion for writing and reading developed into a lifelong obsession. She indulges in writing poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and revels in journalism and editing at 110° Magazine. Andrea obtained her Bachelor's Degree in business marketing from the University of Phoenix, and when not working at the magazine she can be found out in the community representing H.A.L.O. as the Vice President.

Account Executive: Caroline Robertson

Caroline cheerfully tries to win over customers. She has a deliberate goal of doing what's right for her clients before attempting to earn money for the magazine. She is moved by enthusiasm for her work, her love for the magazine, and her confidence in the power of an advertisement in 110° Magazine to clients them reach their business goals. She wouldn't sell any client an advertisement unless she confidently believed that it was in the client's interest. Her brogue betrays Caroline's Scottish origins. She was a senior manager for a number of years in an large Scottish governmental agency. She is an entrepreneur and former owner of her own business in which she demonstrated her awesome sales ability.

Account Executive: Dino Piquero

Dino brings a powerful desire to interact with clients and potential clients. He believes in his heart that it is more effective to establish a relationship than to simply make a sale. His goal isn't to get a quick buck, but to work in a steady and persistent way to create accounts with clients who feel that they have been valued as human beings and not simply manipulated as a source of revenue. He regards people and not his paycheck as the best part of his job.

Contributing Photographer: Russell Byrne

Exuding a passion for photography, Russell picked up his first camera at the age of nine. As an avid world traveler he has taken pleasure in photographing every place he has visited including, Australia, Indonesia, Costa Rica, and his birthplace, New Zealand. Russell is passionate about the field work involved in photography and feels that a job is not done right if he is not covered in dirt by the end of a session. The most memorable experience of his career was shooting Mt. Ruapehu from two miles away as it erupted. Russell has been sharing his talents with 110° Magazine for two years and also works as a commercial freelance photographer.

Associate Art Director: Adam Huntington

Adam has carried on a decade long love affair with desktop publishing and graphic design. Adam blends experience with passion in responding to the challenge of hi-quality desktop publishing. He has carried out freelance graphic work for such companies as Cisco Systems and Hewlett-Packard, while working on an AA in graphic design at De Anza College. Adam also attended Hope International University, receiving a BA in graphic design through a joint program between Hope and California State University Fullerton. While in school, Adam worked as Hope University's graphic designer, designing and creating advertisements, brochures, mailings, and pages for the school's magazine and newspaper.

Contributing Editor: Jim Mannion

Jim is a graduate of Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo with a degree in Graphic Communication. He is a print sales representative and freelance sports writer in the East Bay, and in his spare time, coaches high school basketball. Jim lives in Martinez with his wife Karen, and enjoys exploring parks throughout the Bay Area, as well as playing Co-Ed softball. His dream is to travel the state and write a book about high school football in small towns through out California.

Contributing Editor: Chris Scott

Chris makes his home in Antioch. He loves to spend time hanging around Antioch's historic Rivertown District. Chris is a writer of many years experience. He has spent years doing technical documentation and has many articles for newsletters, newspapers, and other kinds of publications under his belt. Chris says his happy place is sitting before a computer keyboard and creating the articles that he loves.

Webmaster: Ramon Joseph Piquero

Ramon is a graduate of Silcon Valley College with a degree in Computer Graphics. He is a outside sales representative and freelance web/graphic designer and a Magician. He has been in the computer industry since 97. Ramon has been a Senior Graphic Designer in marketing, UI designer, Web designer and an Art Director. He has created more than over 30 web sites in his career.

TV Critic: Richard Koscher

Richard is a TV Critic for several U.S. and European magazines, such as 110° magazine a San Francisco East Bay regional lifestyle magazine and 65° magazine which is published in the Monterey Peninsula. He also writes for the only bilingual German and English magazine German World.
